Battery & Low Oil Level Light

Hi Guys

Got a few lights come up on the dash. First one was the orange water in the fuel filter light. I drained the fuel filter, connected up car starts fine. The light is still on. All pipes and cables have been connected and checked.

The other two lights are the red Battery drain light and the orange low oil level light.

Checked oil was a little low but not a lot. Topped up but the light remains on.

The car starts fine every time, Battery is reading 12.6V but doesn't read 14V when started. Suspect alternator is gone. If the alternator is gone and not charging would that cause any other lights to come on?

Will do some other checks but really need some help on this, If anyone else as had a similar issue, other wise it'll be a trip to Mr T and the wallet lighted. Their's is no black smoke and the car isn't down on power. I hooked up my ODB2 scanner and said their's no codes. Did a live scan everything looked normal. Car's done 90,888 miles.

Fixed the problem. Turned out it was the alternator, just the back part of it that converts AC to DC wasn't producing enough power which caused the three lights on the dash to come on.

I know you sorted the Battery but I want to offer more detail to people who dig up this Thread.

The Battery shaped light on the dash should always light up when you turn the ignition on and start cranking, to then eventually turn off when the engine has started. The light is the initial start-up power source for the alternator, when the light is on the charge is sent through to the Alternator Brushes which powers up the primary coil a little, the charge creates a charge in the secondary coil and is then sent back round through to the primary coil to make the magnet more powerful allowing the Alternator to provide the necessary amps.

If that light doesn't turn on, then you have either a bulb out or a faulty connection somewhere.
