New Mk1 Owner Questions- Help Please!

Hi,

Just bought an "Edge" edition Mk1 RAV4 (1997), and I have a couple of questions...

1) is this an OBDII compliant vehicle? If so, where is the connector port?

2) Petrol gushes out briefly underneath when I fill it up. Is there a see-thru/cross section/diagram of the fuel tank and filler neck etc available online somewhere, and is this a common failure?

I'm sure I'll be regularly on here, so this is probably the first post of many!

Thanks for your help...

Pete

Bothy is that big caretaker guy out of Harry Potter films, Pete, long hair and Crombie coat, so he may be away filming in order to frighten children...again. Quite sure there is no Kanobe output to plug in your OBD on that age of model, and also sure that Bothy has previously posted on the "petrol breather pipe" rotting and being replaced by plastic....do a wee search under that title.

Good luck with yer new car and welcome t'cloob....

hi

here is a useful resource for you and any other 4.1s out there

http://www.rav4world.com/forums/83-4-1-general/81503-1997-rav4-pdf-service-manual.html

the fuel filler pipe is prone to rusting so replace with genuine toyota parts for a proper fit

from what i know only american and canadian early ravs gad obd2 compatable ecus.

ours just has a diag port in the engine bay for simple but can be a useful diagnostic tool.
