Auris Lighter Socket

Hey folks,

Ive got a 57 Auris t3, the lighter socket was always a bit ropey in that it seemed to be a little loose, and you would have to wiggle whatever you plugged into it to get it working. Well it finally gave up, the socket is now completely loose.

I figured the socket was finished so rather than pay the £31 that Toyota want, I paid £9 in Halfords for a new socket. Problem is once its all plugged in, it doesn't work either.

The fuse looks good, I even ran a multimeter over it and it checks out ok.

The only thing I can think of is that the plugs on the new socket a very slightly larger than the original and dont quite go sll the way, but as far as in aware with these spade adapters is that as long as there's contact they should work. The other connector for the bulb doesn't fit at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lat

P.s. other than this, and the handbrake being a bit suspect, the Auris is a great wee car!

if my memory is right the connector for the light is also the earth, so without that it wont work, if you cut the connector off and solder the wire to the body it should b fine

Ahh thanks Smithy, there was a metal connection between the socket and the bulb connector which had worked loose then snapped off when I was attempting to refit it.....that kind of explains it!
