I've got a problem with my Rav 4 4wd diesel

When I start with first gear , no problem , 2nd gear -ok but when I swithced to 3rd or 4th gear and push hard the acceleration , the engine failure light start on and no more power in engine , no more acceleration finally stop running . Stop engine , pull the contact key off , push it back , start engine , all ok up to next hard or litle hard acceleration when the above steps come again .

Which could be the problem , nobody from services knows .

Could be the diesel oil quality, one of the reason ?

I can say that , if I run softly without any hard acceleration there will be no more probleme at all, but as you know sometimes you need to increase the power and speed . Thanks again . Any ideea please .

When was the EGR valve last cleaned? Maybe a fuel filter/air problem. Wouldn't have thought a fuel quality problem unless from a dubious source...

EGR- never,

Fuel filter - 2 times /year have changed with original brand new one

In my country (Romania-nobody's perfect) i made full from many places , no change at all.

I've been twice across Europe , abt 14000 km and never hapened such a thing.

I supose to be the quality of fuel , but all?

I'll try to clean EGR valve if I'll find it .

By the way , could be a reason the fact that I used to get maximum 10 ltrs of diesel oil (made the fuel tank full only during Europe vacation) oil each time ?

Read the pinned section on SCVs. It might be helpful if you get the DTC code.

I've cleaned the EGR valve , no change at all. Still problem in 4th gear .

Also change the air filter .

Any other causes , please ?
