Replacing Winter Tyres For Summer

Can anyone help me get a decent price on two new Bridgestone tyres for my 59 reg' 1.0 iQ? The Winter tyres are due to come off soon and need to buy two new tyres, and have those plus the other two older tyres fitted, balanced etc. Also, two very worn summer tyres to dispose of.

Tyre size is 175/65R15 84S. I know most of you know the details of these tyres anyway, but thought I'd include the size here. Obviously I need the Winter tyres taking off so I can store them for later in the year. Much appreciate any help. It seems a little difficult to find them on the Interweb as they all come up as T or H rated, no S rated. Best price I got so far is £57.90 with postage and packing in the price.

This is from mytyres.co.uk

Have you checked at a local tyre fitting centre for a price fitted?

As to ratings.

S is up to 112 mph

T is up to 118 mph

H is up to 130mph

If you put on T rated, thats fine.

I typed in google

Bridgestone 175/65R15

loads of suppliers came up.

Do you really need to have your winter tyres changed?

I have run a set of Avon Icetour on my Picanto for 4 years, 15,000 miles and as new and now a set of Pirelli Snow Controls are going to be staying on my other car all year..

I get no wear with them and they are very good in the wet.

I don't know really. I think so, that was the plan when I bought the winter tyres, to swap them back. Once I've got the new tyres on then it should be a while before I need to buy more.

I know what you're saying George. It's not like I need the extra summer grip as the car isn't driven at great speed -unlike my old Cav2000 GSi, but then the tyres on that were twice as wide and twice as expensive.

I suppose the bonus with winter tryes on is when it persists down you automatically have better grip than with summer tyres. Damn it! You've given me a conundrum now. I need to do some more research. I know it's like there's no law against having winter tyres on in the summer, but I'm not sure I want to be without summer tyres on, in the summer.

I have done a little research and the winter tyres are not as good on the braking front as summer tyres, as on dry warmer summer roads, well, they can be occasionally.
