Remote For Scorpion Immobiliser & Remotez.co.uk

Hi, Having read many threads on this forum about the aftermarket immobilisers fitted to Carina e probably at dealers, I see that removal is a good solution to many.

I have only one remote which works (rectangular with one red button and one black button at the bottom of case, a sliding switch in the centre of the left hand side and a small socket on the right side of the case. On the back of the case is text which is faded but I think it is MPT 1340 WT licence exempt.) so I was hoping to source another so I did't end up stuck with a car I can't start.

From research I think this is a Scorpion system. I thought I had struck gold with www.remotez.co.uk who said they could supply a compatable programmable remote. Sadly I ordered that on 22nd Feb made payment but have not received goods or had 'phone calls or emails answered. They still have time as delivery must be within 30 days however not looking good and feel I have been mugged so I need to research a different soloution.

I have read somewhere that the fob and a control unit from the immobiliser can be sent away however I was hoping to get a replacement remote without sending stuff away. Do any of the fine people here have any solutions ? Thanks in advance, the knowledge and helpfulness of posters here really is special and appreciated.

Scorpion went bust donkeys years ago and the best solution is to remove it and get a new alarm system

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, deep down I know removal is probably the best option, I have read on here that some have and rekon it takes about two hours. I was just looking and hoping for an alternative as I wasn't looking forward to removing it or having it removed.

Were they Scorpion systems ? and were they aftermarket dealer fitted or were there factory fitted systems ? (if that makes any difference, I don't know). Mine is a 1996 on an N reg.

I had an email apology and the remote arrived a couple of days ago so that is a result as I did get the remote I ordered from www.remotez.co.uk however I haven't got the new remote to learn the code of the original yet.

Next car I buy (early Toyota Avensis Estate 1.8 before the vvti) I will make sure I have as many working keys/ fobs as possible, lesson learnt.
