hi

Can anyone tell me if I can disconnect my rear prop to save on fuel as I occassionally have to do 1100 mile motorway journeys and do not want to change my Rav as I like it so much. Without disconnecting the prop I am unsure if it will still drive and if it will is using FWD only damaging in any way.

Thanks

Surely there are output and input bearings either end of said propshaft, which are designed to "run under load" and will scream like banshees when left to revolve at "some speed".....? I am no engineer, and the foregoing could well be total mince, but it sounds a wee bit extreme and off the wall all in the name of economy......

Interesting theory nonetheless.

Big Kev

I have a feeling that is all that needs to be done (plus covering up any holes with grommets etc) to make a RAV FWD only

Have to do all the usual things of informing insurance of mods, etc and see if it is possible to estimate how much you would actually save economy wise to see if it is worth doing.
