Should I Go For Another Iq?

Recommended Posts

My 2009 IQ base model company car is due for renewal later this year. There are lots of things I like about it but the new twinair Fiats and especially the upcoming twinair Alfas are also catching my attention. At the end of the day the IQ is well equipped and refined for it's size - and only 10% company car tax. I'd probably be tempted to spec up to an IQ 2 with Leather next time.

Does anybody know if we're close to a model refresh ? What do others think they might do when it's time to change ?

I expect there will be a major "refresh" of the IQ at some point but if the Aygo is anything to go by, changing the front "bumper" design is as far as any major changes to the looks will be.

A price hike will also accompany any refresh.

An electric IQ is also on the cards so that is something else to wait for.

I am on my second IQ having previously had an early 09 model and the subtle changes that have been made to my newer one, mid 2011, are welcome, compared to the older model.

I didn't even consider another car, I loved my old IQ and its character and knew another one was the way to go, for me at any rate.

i tried the fiat twin air and did not like it, i felt that it was under power and was a low ride and the sat nav is plastic and there are so many of them. i loved the iq so i brought one this march with the leather seats and just love it.

I've found that these nice new twinairs have got the eco side down to great guns due to removing any fun out of the car itself.

I'll not be owning one for certain.

As far as I know -which aint a lot- there is a new model in the works. Likely they will do a refresh as already said, just so they can charge more. If I were you, I would definitely go for another iQ. I have the 'simples' iQ 1 version. No Sat-Nav, set your own air-con controls... I love it. If I won the lottery and bought my Maserati Quattroporte, I would still have the iQ, or rather, an iQ. It would be modded quite a lot, but it would still be the 1.0, tax free, but maybe an iQ2, with lots of extras and then some more upgrades from our friendly Tarquin/David. You know it makes sense. Go for one with the nice new leather seats, then post some pics. But hey, it's your hard earned cash.

I quite like the idea of the Fiat 500, but really... you don't want to be seen in one of those, erm... you know, a womans car... sorry ladies, but it is. If you want the twin-air, go for the Fiat Punto Evo in 1.4 guise. Good economy, car looks good too.

I'm in a similar position, no idea what to do it's a shame that Toyota don't produce more supercharged versions - i'd be down the showroom now! Just fancy a warm hatch - been tempted by a twingo 133 but walked away at the last minute.

Still not quite sure I can trust another IQ either

For me it would be down to them bringing the oil burning diesel version to the UK.

My wive has a Fiat 500c 1.2. It's a nice car, but I find it narrow inside and with the doors shut, you can't grab anything in those pockets. The display and dashboard are well lit as well. But I much prefer going back to my iQ after driving it.

Here in Portugal it is very rare to find a petrol iQ, they are nearly all diesel. I bought my petrol iQ2 because it was the only one available with Multidrive, which is also rare as they are €1000 more expensive. I'm achieving 60+mpg so I don't mind paying the extra 16 cents per litre.

How do they price petrol and diesel?

Around here, diesel is nearly 10 pence a liter more :o

Around 5-6 pence difference here in London.
