Apparently the LEDs tend to be a bit slow to switch on and may not be suitable as a brake light unless a particular type?

I have been running with LED sidelights and number plate lights for a long time now, and can indeed recommend the newer wee 5 light LED's as sidelights....not in the least boy racerish and help visibility in daylight too.

As far as having them as brakelights, how bright does one need.....? Most irritating part of night time driving nowadays is the "bright pink world" created by some German manufacturers' brake lights fitted to automatics, so they sit at traffic lights with foot on brake.....infurimacating...!!!

Hi

Right, you mean human reaction time not switching speed. Switching speed would be of the order of nano-seconds. Does depend on how the drive circuit is aranged, but generally the time taken for a led to switch on in this application is mostly irrelevant.

I've never bothered and my 4.3 ones are leds anyway, so can't recommend anything. The right wavelength might be worth considering, but I guess your average fleabay supplier won't quote it and they will probably be fitted behind a red lens anyway (the leds, not the fleabay supplier).

What ones are you running as side lights? Do you have a link where you got them?

thats great thanks Big Kev !

eBay....Item Number : 180737742822

Remember they are posi / negative specific, so if they don't work first insertion, remove and turn 180 degrees.

Off to email Davrav re "how to do links to things".

Thanks Kev

Ps you watchin the F1 or an early bird?

Just an early bird, mate....actually cannot stand F1, and for no apparent reason. Would give right buttock to help build or strip one on those engines, but find the watching a total bore.
