Bits And Pieces For Rav4.2 Xtr

Hi,

I pick up a 55 plate XTR next weekend and its main job will be to cart our black Lab around. Could anyone please recommend a suitable dog guard as I hear the netting is probably not up to the job. I suppose a boot liner would also be a good idea, any ideas?

The RAV's secondary job will be to keep my wife happy (it's mostly her car) and for that I need to tidy it up a bit. The bits and pieces needing doing are:-

needs a spare wheel cover as the original is missing.

front grille needs replacing

bits of the interior trim are looking a bit scruffy esp the door pull handles. Are these easy to replace?

I'm sure eBay will be the main source of parts and I'll probably make a trip to a breakers yard in due course.

If anyone has any advice, it'd be much appreciated.

Hi Jason & welcome to the club.

Re the spare wheel cover, are you sure it's supposed to have one? I had a Granite a while back & it had an exposed spare as standard. Not sure about the XTR though.

I am pretty sure the XT-Rs did have the hard cover. 2nd Hand GOOD replacements are hard to find. New ones from Toyota are VERY Expensive, and also would need painting to Body Colour to make it same as when new. bear in mind (if you did not already know) that it is a two-part cover - Back part fixed behind wheel, front part goes over wheel - like a clamshell in some ways :)

I quite liked the look of the Exposed Spare personally, and left my cover off for a year or so - looks more 'purposeful' :D

The best value option maybe to get one of those vinyl covers with the elasticated surround that stretch around the spare (I think the RAV4.1s used them and you may find one with a RAV4 logo on eBay which would look good  )

Thanks guys, it looked like there was a backing plate for the hard cover so I think it was supposed to have one.

A vinyl cover may be the best compromise until a hard version turns up in the right colour (it may be a long time).

I'll keep my eye out.
