Engine Numbers On Dvla V5 ...

There seemed to have been a bit of a glitch with recording of Engine numbers on the V5 in the last couple of years going by some posts.

That prompted me to check and on the Service Book and the Invoice for my RAV4 SR 150, I have the Engine Number recorded as 2AHxxxxxxx (xx's being numbers :) ), but the V5 having the engine number as 2ADxxxxxxx (same numbers, different first letters)

But when I looked at the engine number, and while it is pretty tricky to see with all the ancillary stuff around, the number stamped on the block does not seem to have anything in front of the numbers - so no 2AH OR 2AD.

Is that first bit really for Toyotas own purposes - and irrelevant to the DVLA on the V5? And should the V5 actually not have either 2AD or 2AH or 2AF (in the case of XT-R 150s) but just the numbers themselves that appear on the engine?

Bit confused by this really and when I am about to send off the V5 to get it corrected, thinking maybe I should tell them the correct number is not 2AHxxxxxx, but just xxxxxx instead? (as that is what is stamped on the block)

The numbers it starts with are only manufacturing marks, nothing to do with the actual engine number. It is irellevent for the purposes of the log book, the last xxxxxxxx digits should be the same on the block / V5 logbook

Are these engine TYPES 2AF anf 2AH valid or are they still 2ADs?

They are still 2AD but the designation at the front of the engine number on the block is only a manufacturing code, it is not to be confused with the engine type

So do you think I should send a form to DVLA with the 2AH code correction basically so the V5 matches the invoice? I guess it doesn't REALLY matter from their point of view but it might save complicated explanations if I wanted to sell the SR

No, don't bother, one of our customers tried to do that and they didnt want to know, it is a manufacturer designation code and not the engine number (as such) so said it was pointless to change it
