Sat Nav

As self admitted dipstick when it comes to technical matters, I have a problem trying to sort out the Sat Nav that was already installed when I bought it a year old ...it is now just 3 yrs old.

I hav'nt used it much and therefore to say the leas..........t and I'm blowed if I an work out how to do it from the book of instriusctions. It is a tad complicated.

I had put in a destination address but when we actually arrived at the address, the Sat Nav was still telling how to ge there !!!!!!!!!

I have tried to put in a new address but the Sat Nav is still spouting out the original one ?

Although I managed to get it to work the first time, I l cannot figure out what you have to do to start it off so to speak , which I have to do to try and get rid of the one that wont go away.

Can anyone tell me what to press AFTER I have inputted the address or the post code to start the thing working cos it is not until I can input a new destination will I get rid of the one that wont go away and it is driving me scatty.

Thanks

it normaly gives you the choice of three routes but just press guide,

if you want to just delete the previous route press on the red dot one the screen that is the end point, up will come a menu and chose Delete

Many thanks pauljj for responding to this. Unfortunately my sat nav screen does not show what you have suggested. It is not showing any choices or a red dot. I normally press Dest or Menu screens when i want to start off !

I can load in an address alright either by the actual address or the postcode but my real problem and the reason why I asked the original question is, that I cannot get rid of an earlier or previous address that I put in the other night.(see my original and opening entry)

It seems that regardles of what I do now, this blinkin' earlier entry comes up all the time and nothing I attempt to put in , seems to override it.

I can only suspend guidance to stop the blinlin' voice giving me instructions to this earlier addess which we never ever reached anyway !

I need to know .... (1) how to cancel that and ....(2) How to "trigger off" OR say "GO" to any new destination instructions that I feed into it.

I have to admit that I was surprised that only you Paul, were kind enough to respond to this. I dont use this site much 'tis true, but I thought that others did and that I would have got more replies. I do however, as said earlier, appreciate your reply and am only too sorry that I was not able to make it work.

Thanks again. J.

On the screen touch route and a new screen will appear. Select Delete. To delete all previous destinations select Memory and Delete.

Thanks Fitter, tis good of you to come in on this.

"

I have just tried what you suggsted or at least attempted to try...but cannot find the word "route" on any of my screens .As I said earlier I either press " Dest " or " Menu " neither of which throw up the word " Route ".

As thick as I am or appear to be, although it is only lack of practise 'cos we have not had any occasion to use the Sat Nav since we have had the car. I have to admit however that due to my advancing years ,I am not the quickest to understand the Sat Nav Instruction book but as I started to say ....I have managed to delete all the Previous Points !

I assume perhaps wrongly , that ,that should have cleared any previous destinations that I had inputted . But hell no . I switched the car ignitions on again and there she was ......... "Sat Nav Sybil"...telling us to turn right in half a mile etc etc etc .

I just cant get rid of her except by turning off guidance etc. So its either me oooooorrrrrr ....there could be fault on the Sat Nav of course.

If you do have further guidance ,do tell. If not I'll have to take it to theToyota dealer to see if they can help.

I am obliged to you in any event . Cheers.

When you plan a new route it will give you a choice of three routes, decide which you want to use and select it, you then get the option to "REPLACE" use this option to replace the existing end point and replace with the new one then select "GUIDE".

revband ...you are a lifesaver. What you suggested was it !!! Having just come in and read your reply...I nipped out to try what you said and bi-george that did it.

The magic button (it seems for me ) was "Guide". I was'nt using that but doing it in the way that you said, worked....... and I tried a couple of quick local post codes in our village then drove around to them, and as I said it worked fine ,and there was me thinking I was going crackers or the Sat Nav was on the blink. I have at last got rid of the wretched thing that just would not go away.

I really am very grateful to you and can't say thankyou enough and as I said a lifesaver 'cos I had decided that perhaps it was time to go up the local Toyota Dealer to get them to fix it. So your very kind advice has saved me an embarassing situation.

Thanks and appreciation again and my very grateful kind regards.

J.
