Engine Replacement

Hey Guys,

Help!! I recently replaced the engine in my Toyota Celica 2001 Y Reg with a post 2004 engine...payed a good price and the engine only has 42,000 miles.

Had it fitted and first of all everything seemed ok, but after driving it from the garage to my house the engine management light came on and every time i went over 3000 rpm it would jolt (as if it had hit the rev limiter) but carry on going after blowing a huge amount of white smoke out of the exhaust.

The mechanic had to change a metal breathing pipe that was different on the 2004 engine. Could this be anything to do with the problems i am having or does anyone know what the problem could be?
