Heated Seats

Just wondering did the 4.3 ever have heated seats if so what model were they fitted to and where were they wired to beneath the seat? Just wondering if it's like cruise control and just missing the switch?

We have them on our T180 & I believe that they are on the XT5 although I stand to be corrected.

I retro fitted them to my S2000 with carbon elements which have high & low settings & IMO are better than the OEM ones in the RAV. You can get them for around £130 & allow yourself a day to fit them if you are a novice.

The S2000 never had any wiring at all as heated seats were never an option but it is straight forward to pick up a power supply.

Can't comment on whether the rav already has the wiring.

The current 4WD RAVs all have heated seats.

I am not sure if you ever see heated seats without them also being leather? Could be a technical reason or just a quirk of specificatins.

I would guess it would be unlikely to have the heater elements in all the seats regardless but given your experience with the cruise, who knows!

FWIW, I fitted electric heated seats to my RAV4.2 for under £50 for the front pair, with a kit off eBay and they worked really well :D. quite a simple retrofit with the power easily taken off the 10A supply that feeds the Cigar lighter :thumbs up:

This is the kit I got .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WAECO-HEATED-SEAT-KIT-RETRO-FIT-KIT-2-SEATS-/260722201375?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb441131f#ht_3256wt_970

Go on Tony, you know you want to and those diesels take there time to warm up in winter - that's why I swapped to a newer Rav so I had a warm bum in winter.

I fitted mine at the same time I fitted Leather Seat Trims to the RAV4.2, so it was an opportune moment, but it really was simple to do, long as you are, like all these things, methodical.

Basically, the easiest way would be to take out the seats so you can get to the covers to pull up and slide the heater elements to. and while the seats are out, get the wiring from behind the centre console acc. socket and run the wiring under the carpet, probably next to the airbag and seatbelt warning wiring, and fit the switches in the blanks.

These are the switches from that Waeco set that I fitted into the Blanks.

I also added a Bi-Colour LED so on postion I it would light up Amber and at II (higher heat) it would be Red.
