Fuse Reverse Light

Hi

Reversing light is not working. Have replaced bulb but hasn't made a difference. I understand the fuse is located behind the glove compartment. I assume I have to remove the glove compartment to get to the fuse box but I don't know how to do this. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Open glove box and passenger door. You will see a cross head screw on the box damper arm. Remove it and allow the box to drop. If you need it out altogether squeeze the sides of the glove box hard so that the lugs on the sides clear and the box will drop and can be lifted off. However I believe that Fuse 39 is in the fuse box to the right and below the steering column.

Just had to do mine too.

On the 2007 d4d estate fuse 39 is in behind the glove box.

I am having a problem with my reverse light not working.

Just had a look on my 2008 tourer and the bulb is fine. Checked behind the glove box and none of those fuses relate to reverse light, looked in the fuses under bonnet and none of those do also, then looked for one near steering column and can't even see any fuses. Does this model have a fuse for the reverse light or will it be a faulty switch?

My 2008 model shows the "back-up lights" to have a fuse location next to the steering column - fuse 39.

It also operates the head-light beam level control and the emergency flashers. So if these work ok, then maybe it isn't the fuse. the usual poble with the reverse light is the electrical connection onto the switch in the gearbox. It can corrode as it's exposed to the elements. cleaning up the contacts should solve your problem.

Thanks Gazza, don't suppose anyone has any pics of the rough location for the switch as it is not the fuse as hazards work fine. Looks like the switch is at fault.

yes the reverse switch is on the gearbox.

Take the air filter and plastic housing off including the turbo pipe.

use a torch and look down at the gearbox.

You should see the speed sensor wire / harness it should be 3 wires

on the side next to the linkages should be the reverse switch.

Its a two wire connector

After all that it was a dodgy wire going into the cluster...............typical.
