Aerialballs?

Anyone bought a foam aerial ball or topper for their Prius car aerial?

I was wondering if it would work as deterrent to stop the little birds perching on the aerial and leaving deposits on the roof?

Can they be left on all the time and would they affect the mpg much?

The affect on mpg will be down to how much the ball adds to the CD rating and the surface area (and how fast you travel). Small increases in these can have an impact when travelling at high speed.
