Fuel strike 2012 may be worth considering keeping enough fuel..

I've noticed that Amazon are selling quite a few 20L Jerry cans and flexible can spouts! Somethings happening for sure!...

There is only likely to be a shortage of fuel at the pumps if people drive around all the time with full fuel tanks and store 20 litres in Jerry cans at home..........Panic buying of fuel will really not help the situation

Its the Unite union rasing its ugly head again.

one of their complaints is not enough safety traing given to tanker drivers.

Yesterday morning on my local radio an recently retired tanker driver stated that the tanker drivers are up to there ears in safety training and the whole thing is purely political.

PM David Cameron said there was no need to queue but motorists should top up their tanks, and Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude advised storing petrol in a jerrycan in their garage.

I really don't know what all this training is for. I'm sure that getting an LGV license is a lot harder than:

1/ Don't smoke while filling/unloading

2/ Connect the ground wire first

3/ Try and put the right fuel in each tank

(Yes, I know there is probably a little more to it, but having worked in refineries and chemical plants I know damn well that it mainly boils down to "Use a little common sense - or die horribly". Works for me :) )

Oh there is a reason - their pay, conditions and pensions have suffered a bit over the years, just like most of us.

Unlike most of us they have gun to hold to the country's head.

The last few years certainly suggest that having "anker" in your job title seems to be a licence to roll the rest of us over for a bit more pay.

And if I sound bitter and cynical, it's because I am :)

Several petrol stations local to me are out of fuel today.

My local Sainsburys was empty today not of fuel but of cars..........Im waiting for the fuel sales to start :D
