New To A Prius Hints And Tips?

Looking at the bright side, it looks like your tail gate isnt going to fall to pieces before your eyes due to corrosion. I am inclined to suspect a respray too. However, keeping in mind the purpose for which the car was purchased, the potential cost of remedial works can easily be postponed to a later date. From your description, you seem to have bought a good value economic car which is perhaps less than perfect but which is good for its mileage. We have a gen 2 prius spirit and a cheap ex demo Lexus CT and in many ways, I prefer the gen 2 with its space and gizmos despite its older design.

My best tip for having a Prius - turn off the "Trip info" Battery etc on the MFD, and just watch the sodding road. The scenery is probably more interesting anyway.

1) You are less likely to crash

2) Looking further ahead, you can anticipate obstructions and slow down, saving fuel

Don't worry if the engine seems to rev a lot under moderate acceleration or hills- this is normal on the Gen2, I have got used to it now. Just trust it to do the right thing.

The paint man I used was Andrew from 'Spray & Save' - I got his name from the Toyota dealer in Huddersfield. He works from there on Tuesdays, and does home visits too, although he's mainly based around Huddersfield I think. He did some chip repairs and a bit of spray-work for me and I can recommend him. You can probably either try to see him at the Hudds dealer on a Tuesday, or give him a ring on 07788 988178. He was very honest & professional, so he could at least tell you what the problem is and the best solution, even if he's not the man to fix it.

The Huddersfield dealer has a paint-shop too, although you'd probably be talking big money to do a full hatch respray.
