Upgrade For Stop- Start ?

Just seen this .

"Toyota Yaris models with the 1.33 dual VVt-1 petrol engine may be equipped with with an improved version of Toyota"s stop start system. Available in specific markets, the system now features a longer shut off time and will operate at a wider temperature range"

Wonder if this is an upgrade which may be available in the U.K for all 1.33 stop-start engines, (including the Auris) or are we to miss out.?

Anybody know?

Interesting...

This is something I have said from day one and have even informed Toyota about this. I would guess it could possibly be done via software update.

To me the system should have user options such as allowing the stop/start to turn off the climate control after say 30 seconds and the engine then to remain off for a user defined time period.

Hello Everyone!

I have one short question: I am waiting now for my new Auris 1.33 Dual VVT-i and today I've learned from my dealer that this does not have the feature "Stop & Start"..?! This seemed strange to me, because I've checked it on Toyota Europe page and I understood that this feature is standard for 1.33 Dual VVT-i motor.. He explained me that this is not available for the vehicles sold in Romania (sorry I forgot to mention I am from Romania) due to different clime etc.. Even more strange, because I have understood from reviews that it can be deactivated by a switch and anyway does not start at low temps... and we surely have a long summer ahead here, does not make sense at all, what do you think?

Question: can this feature be activated by i.e. SW update or equipment/parts upgrade?

Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback!

Respectfully yours,

Stefan.

There is a dashboard switch to turn it off but it defaults back to on the next time the car is used.

If it's not fitted then I'm sure it will be more than a case of a simple software option to activate it. Many parts will have been omitted to save cost.

In it's original form I wonder how much sense it really makes. I suppose it does allow the emissions to be lower in the official tests which mean in certain countries it can get into a lower tax band.

Thanks a lot for your fast feedback Mooly! You are right, it should probably be more than just a software upgrade.

Anyway, I agree with you that this feature does not really make sense, as you won't reduce the overall fuel consumption too much. The Auris HSD seemed much more appropriate for this but also the price is almost 50% higher, which does not amortize the costs for my average of 20k km/year over next 5 years.

Thanks again.
