Dose anyone know what the small connector (two-pin with white wire) i behind the loweer steering column cover on a 2002 D4D is for?

Baz min....that's the thing that lights up and shows ye where to put yer key when you've maybe had one or two.........chips too many, mate....as if it would be anything else, up there in O'Ban with so many polis MAKING SURE YOUZ ONLY DRINK IRN-BRU........

Sometimes referred to as a "glow ring" and has nothing to do with what happens after you've used the "curry hook".

is there a connection at the key?

Not sure what you mean. I think the wiring is there, but I don't think the ring is fitted to the diesel. There wasn't one on my 4.2 D4D.
