Any suggestions how to open a smart entry key fob to replace Battery, please.

Take the key blade out.

Under where the top of the blade (i.e. the plastic bit a key ring can be attached to) normally sits, in the main body of the key, you will see a small recessed slot. The end of the key blade will fit into the slot.

Put the square end of the key blade into the slot and twist carefully.

Case open.

Thought it was in the handbook anyway?

EDIT: Davrav, wins again!

Thanks mates, forgot all about the hand book, surely there's something about it.

Managed to open it as you mentioned Andy.

Thanks to you too Dav :)

Bought 2 for €2.30 each from a local shop.

Noticed a red flashing light from remote, any idea what's for...

Er, usually when you press a button.

It will appear to flash by itself now and again, when close to the car.

It is just communicating with the car, for the smart entry system.

For longer Battery life, keep the key out of range when the car is not in use.

What distance is meant Out Of Range. I keep the key fob hanged to a key holder at about 5-7 meters distance in the basement.

At that distance if I press a button it will actually work , even I if move to the first floor and try to operate it, it will work too, so can't imagine were I can place the remote out of range...

Until it no longer flashes by itself!

The car will try to "ping" the key every so often. Then the key will respond, if it hears the car.

The range with you pressing the button, or the key responding (transmission to the car) is much greater than the the transmission range from the car (when the car is "pinging" the key).

The transmission field strength from the car falls off with the cube of the distance 1/d^3. The transmission field strength from the key falls off with the square of the distance 1/d^2.

The car transmission is mostly a near field magnetic component @ 125kHz, where as the key transmits @ 434MHz and is effectively normal E-M far-field.
