How Can I Know Which Engine I Have?

i bought toyota avensis in england. in my registration certificate avensis 2.2 D4D T180 , but on the plastic cover of the engine says d-cat. i dont know what engine exactly i have. maybe someone knows how i can tell the difference between the engines? i dont know which oil to put in! thank you!

welcome to the forum :)

should be a 2AD-FHV & your manual should give recommendations.

5W30 semi-synth or fully synth but it must meet C2 or better to protect the DPF.

Mobil 1 ESP 5W/30 is a common one.

well, in the UK the vast majority of D-CAT equipped Avensis used the T180 (there are a few others but relatively few) .

If the car is registered as a T180, the cover says D-CAT & the serial nos. match why think that it's anything else?

At any rate any D-CAT equipped engine requires C2 grade oil to protect the DPF.

As Heidfirst says ..... you have what it says on the engine cover, no other engine was fitted to the T180!

All the D-CAT means is ... Diesel Clean Advanced Technology.

Go with the Mobil 1 ESP, that's what my local Toyota dealer uses, it's not the cheapest but it's one of the best.
