Hi All

Apologies if this has been asked before but I did a search and couldn't find what I was after.

Does anyone have an idea or even better pictures of where the new iQ's have their daytime running lights fitted? I understand all cars sold now have to have DRL's fitted and as my car was built before the date they became law, they aren't fitted.

I'm just investigating fitting some DRL's to my car and wondered if I could replicate the original fit.

Cheers

Craig.

The new module will have to have DRL's as standard fit. There's a few pictures out there, but like always when you want something you cant find it. ;)

From what I've seen though they are on the little bumper corner buldges (little triangle bits).

Same problem here, can't find the darn pictures anywhere. Fish is right though, they go in the front corner triangle pieces.

Only with a new model... so never on the iQ ...sorry ... Maybe if there's an new electric one.

And yes on the new Yaris Hybrid...

I haven't found anything yet on the DRL's fitted to 'New' iQ's, but did find this interesting-

No DRL's on that, but a 'Shark Fin' aerial. Obviously, they realise that Taz has hit on something big...

Why do they make Electric vehicles look so minging?

Why do they make Electric vehicles look so minging?

Ha ha. I reckon it's to test our resolve. Either that or they think they have to appeal to people with bizarre taste's. Or, maybe this case is because it's Japanese? Better if they had gone for a red lower half me-thinks.

Here we go. I knew I had some pics somewhere of iQ's with DRL's. Of course, can't recall if they are official or if this was something Peter supplied the details to. Maybe it was a German conversion or similar, can't recall for sure. Judging by the wheels in the second pic, I would say it's a nice looking conversion. Looks OEM to me, very well done mod.

BTW, wot T.F. dus OEM meen?

Yes, but why can't they look like the petrol version. I'm sure they would be more appealing then?

I really like the reverse black and white interior on this one...

Are those pictures giving you some more idea's Taz?

Funny you should mention that Fish. The iQ is at Pecca Leather right now for some R&D on "Smart Fit" covers. Updates to come in another thread.

See that's what a like. A man with a plan. :)

Cheers guys

Decided to order myself £12 worth of LED self adhesive strip so will have a play doing a DRL strip around the main light units I think my like Taz did on his car.

I thought lights in the "cheeks" of the bumper would look better but not so sure now.

How about putting them in either of the grills - either in the 'letter box' above the bumper, or in the black plastic grills below?

That appears to be the usual location for retro fitting them. David (Tarquin) is the man, but he's currently working on his tan and normal service should resume shortly. ;)

Well the lower grill area would be similar to where the new Aygo has them

I think the 'retro-fit' area of the DRL's in the toothy grin of the grille looks good. I imagine, what with the awkward idiots that are around these days on the roads, in the car parks etc., the DRL's fitted in the picture in post number 7 would likely get clobbered, even though they do look good there.

If not, you can bet you'd be worried about damage a lot more than if they are in the outer gaps of the grille, where most people on here seem to fit them.

If I ever get around to having them fitted, that's number one in the list of places I would have them. It's a short list. Secondly they would be where the foglights are in the front bumper. I don't have them - :nopity: - so that's my other favoured spot (no pun intended).

Hello Craggie,

just found this on internet regarding DRT's. I hope this helps

Thanks for the link Garry.

I thought DRL's were fitted to all new cars but now I see it's just new models so as long as the iQ stays the same, the DRL's can stay off.

Cheers

Wouldn't mind getting them in the lower grill now I think about it - especially as I have ended up going for the IQ so no fog lights

I really like them on the corners like that.

Does the Cygnet have them or is that too 'chav' for the little Aston?

Posted

I would think as it's a new model type for Aston they should have them.

Had to pop into the local Mr T garage to hand over some paperwork ready for Friday and checked out the DRL on the Aygo as was hoping that they clipped onto the lower grill which would have made it easy to put onto the IQ - but alas no . .
