hello I am new to toyotas. Although i work on cars/commercials for a living they are a car a rairly do major work on as they are usually bullet proof any way

i have a problem on my mums aygo 1,0 mmt the clutch stinks, slips and is getting hot. I would usually jump in get the box out change the clutch rebuild and away with it but i am a bit cautious I have never seen a gearbox with so many electrical plugs on. could any one let me know if it can be adjusted and if it does need changing do you need to get the ecu perameters reset at the main dealers.Or is it just like a manual clutch change  any advice would be grately recieved.

cheers

its a 58 plate with 8500 miles on the clock.

It is not an easy job and requires the clutch to be set before and after which requires special equipment .. Attached MMT reset gives you some info.AYGO MMT RESET.pdf

I've always done my own clutches so I'm interested in doing my MMT in the future.

I've looked into this several times and have come to the conclusion that......

If you are not disturbing the position of the various actuators,

it is a FAIRLY normal clutch swap.

Front bumper / panel off......pain in the ****

Driveshafts out so you'll need new g/box oil. Big tools for hub nuts etc.

Disconnect all plugs then it's the usual removal job, supporting the engine.

NOW......If you are reusing the clutch cover, you have to reset the adjuster mechanism on the clutch cover.

Looks like a press would be a good idea from what I've seen but you might be able to work round it?

If you buy a new cover & friction plate, the cover plate is already set correctly.

Bolt up to flywheel & reassemble everything......long job.

I'm tight, I believe Toyota want about £800.00 for a MMT clutch change.

Can't deny, it is a bit of a daunting task but if I can save myself about £600.00 on labour,

I might give it a go.

Any more factual info anybody? I'm quite happy to be told I'm wrong.

Ian.

Sorry to say its a main dealer job only. yes you can do the mechanical part of the job but its the shutdown and start up sequence of the electrics and adjustments needed , if you don't know the sequence you will never get drive again.
