Pics Of My Bros Lowered T - Sport...

i picked up my bros Pi lowerin kit, OMP strut brace and piper x pannel filter 2day, and i fitted the lowerin kit and strut brace (will fit the pannel filter and modify the air box after the car has been serviced this week).

car has been lowered about 45mm, and with the aid of the front upper strut brace to stiffen things up, the old T - Sport now FINALLY handles well!!! :)

not only does it handle much better, but the ride quality is also better..before on standard T - Sport suspension my bro and i found it a bit harsh/stiff...the Pi lowerin kit has made the bumbs feel much more smoother, improvin the ride quality. i never expected this to happen as normally lowerin kits stiffen up cars and thus make for a harder/harsher ride, well the Pi kit on my corsa did! lol

anyway, apart from handlin better, it also looks much better :D you should av seen the grin on our faces wen i took the car off the axel stands!

heres sum pics i took, didnt get a chance to take pics of the final results (was too dark, and ****ty cam) but will do 2mo, and post on here...

no no nockin sound....i read ur post, i recon (like the last guy who has posted on it) you should check that the springs are sittin properly in the dampner! quite possiblly wen u fitted it, the spring twisted out of the rubber cup.

yes i fitted it myself...the top mounts are just linned up in place, and then held in place via the top bolt etc.

 must be good at fitting them as he did it in the dark it looks :D

lol

na wasnt that dark, well it was day light and then it turned dark, took longer than i fort to do the job!

i did it under my garage, so i was sheltered, and i had a lamp (the fcukin bulb went 3 times! :ffs: ) lol but its a ****ty cam thats y it looks darker, the flash is sh*t!

oh yea, just thought id say (after readin jaxx' post on how to change the suspension)...

i didnt bother takin off the scuttle pannel and whippers, as i had enough room to get to the 3 strut bolts! and it wasnt a problem at all to undo/do up all the bolts.

tho, theres a black metal bit of metal arround the top of the strut (to give support), i couldnt use these as it made the strut brace sit to high, but i aint worried coz the strut brace gives much more support than they do!

tho i just wonder, did anyone else with a strut brace av this minor problem?

oh, my bro says i should offer my services to u guys :D ... so if anyone in my area would like me to fit their suspension, just ask (small fee applicable :P well its better than payin toyota £250 lol)

thats cool

just thought id say, coz i QUICKLY read ur advice on how to change the suspension, and i was under the impression that i would have to remove the scuttle pannel, and i knew there was ***** all room so i wasnt surprised, infact i was annoyed that i would have the extra hassel, but then wen i did it, luckerly i had enough room to get to the strut nuts :)

i just couldnt get at them?? i was spinningmme out so i pulled it off and used a proper ratchet.

how did you undo the strut top bolt??? i cant remember how i did it believe it or not. i had a friend helping and he used some sort of special thing that holds the ram still and undos the top nut. i managed to miss it both times and have been back since to see this thing but cant make head nor tail of it without a spare strut!

i couldnt get to the strut nuts with a rachet and socket, so i used a rachet spanner (ever so slightly bigger than a normal spanner), and on the top nut (closest to the scuttle pannel) i had to use a normal spanner (its size 12 from memmory).

how did i undo the strut top bolt of the dampner?:wacko: lol

well as i didnt av the special tool, wat i did (like wen i did my corsa) was to hold the piston shaft/ram with a pair of mole grips and then turn the top nut at the same time.

i know its a dodgy way, but it was the only way i could think off! i positioned the mole grips at the highest point possible on the piston shaft...luckery it didnt damage the piston shaft at all! not even a scratch :) (well couldnt see any!)

the passenger side was easy to do, but wen it came to the drivers side, the mole grips wouldnt grip piston shaft, so i ended up goin to B&Q to buy sum decent mole grips (Stanley ones @£15  ) took me about 1hour to undo just the drivers side dampner top bolt! :ffs:

but i did it in the end....would be interestin to see ur m8s devise! i cant imagin how it would grip the piston shaft

That looks very low to me! too low for the speed bumps at my place! Cant believe it drives better than standard!

Any ideas why your bros car has a different spoiler to the other T sports ( ie mine)??? Has he changed it?

its not too low, just right imo (unlike my corsa! lol). speed bumps r no probs.

i was surprised too that it drives better than standard! i mean i expected it to handle better round the corners (obviously coz of lower centre of gravity), but i also expected the ride to be harsher, but it aint!

anyways, im not complainin...i suppose its a better ride (absorbs the bumps better than standard) coz the standard T - sport suspension is quite stiff, where as the Pi springs have a few more coils in them, which helps them absorb the shock better.

well thats my 2p worth :P

as for my bro avin a different spoiler...

my bro imported his T - Sport through a dealer (saved a lot! :)) and wen he got it, it came with no %$(in spoiler!

so the importers paid for us to av a toyota garage here fit one for us...but toyota cocked up, and fitted the wrong spoiler (WHICH I POINTED OUT STRAIGHT AWAY TO MY BRO! (he didnt realise))

but he decided that the spoiler fitted to his car is nicer than the T - Sport one, and imo i agree

each to their own :)

mole grips! ooooooooooooooooh dodgy!

dunno what the devise thing is exactly. it just sort of grips the top plate, clamps to the edge of the bench and then you simply put a ratchet on it as normal and it undos? ill get a photo!

yea i know usin mole grips was dodgy, but it was my last resort! :(

at least it did not damage the piston shaft watsoever! honestly! i would av thought it would av scratched it, but not even that! also i put the mole grips on at the top of the shaft i.e. where the shaft wont go inside the dampner! so even if it was scratched it wouldnt really matter.

yea a photo of the tool would be cool. also do u know where i could buy one from? and how much?

cheers bud!

james
