Hey guys I was entruiged with an app that i found on my android, its called "torque free". what I did was order the elm327 obd2 bluetooth reader from eBay for about 15 quid and received it the other day, it doesnt say it is compatible with the celica but i gave it a shot anyway, true enough it came, I plugged it in to my celica, paired my android and what a score! must say it is the shizzle wizzle! got loads of free dials to choose from giving accurate info directly from the cars ecu such as manifold pressure, mass air flow temp and rate, true speed, revs, boost, throttle aperture and tons more including oil pressure ,lambdas................etc, well worth it, you can also download "torque fault code finder" which gives you the code errors on your ecu´s and what they mean and the ability to reset the eml. so as well as having all the dials/pids you need you also got an odb2 reader all for 15 quid+free apps from android market, next mod to go in the celica will be a 6-7 inch android tablet for about 70 quid off eBay integrated into the dash(where the compartment is now above the double din radio) with the apps and so on installed, keeps a nice clean looking dash and can cram tons of dials on the tablet screen, and also means i will have the internet access in my car via 3g and memory card to fill with music which of course will all be wired to my head unit for surround sound, needless to say, must make sure android is 2.3 or above to install the flash player to watch movies should the shopping trip to tesco with the missus be to mundane to bear, gonna be one of those,"you run in, I´ll just wait here in the car, lol!"

the good thing about it too is that you can change the pod colours and backround as often as you like along with size and number of dials you want, the carbon look is prob the best, oh and it also logs all your info too which is handy for accurate 0-60 or q/mile times as the app also connects via your phones gps signal so no more stories about pressing the stopwatch a fraction of a second earlier than my last run.

don´t know if anyone here has done it yet but well worth the investment, any questions on the matter feel free to reply or p.m me, peace :driving:

I and probably many others have already trod this route with an Android phone. However, I don't use it on a daily basis as it's a bit of hassle fitting the phone in the holder and getting all the bits up and running - only a minute or two, but for a 5-10 min drive it just ain't worth the bother.

I'd be a bit concerned about having a phone or tablet 'permanently' set up on the dash - kind of attractive to the less well mannered types who patrol the streets at times. A £70 tablet may not be a big loss, but the collateral damage to the car could put an extra 0 on that.
