Replaceing Rav4.2 2000 Aerial Mast - Gen Or Non-Gen?

Managed to snap the aerial mast off my Rav 4.2 2000 NV 5dr VVt-i earlier - I was in a rush and I didn't open my garage door quite wide enough :-(. Anyway, I've done a quick check on eBay and there are both genuine and non-genuine aerial masts available. Is there any difference between the two? The non-gen masts are cheaper. I replaced mine because it was worn out with the cheapest one on eBay was around £5 and i works exactly the same if not better than the old one, picks up every station, holds the signal well.
