Recall Aftermath

Recommended Posts

I’ve just had the first service and recall work carried out on my IQ3 (a couple of months late tch, tch) and I’m left with a few niggles. The left hand indicator won’t cancel, there’s an intermittent rattle from under the steering column-rhs, and despite filling my washer bottle to the brim with fluid I was still charged for a full bottle.

Lastly, can anyone tell me the colour of the Toyota oil for the IQ3 (mine was green) as I understand it differs from that used in the IQ1 because of the stop/start system (?) and it would be nice to know they’d used the correct spec.

Welcome to the forum.

IMHO you will be better off by speaking to the Dealership that carried out your service.

Tell them to refund the Washer Fluid they charged you for, if they did not actually put any in.

Or they can give you to take away a 'Refill sachet /bottle' for the next time you need to fill up,

after all that was fraud if they actually just check to see the level & then actually do not put in but charge just as a matter of course.

** type into google, 'online oil checker',

you will see the Halfords site where you type in the car Registration Number and get the Correct Spec oil for your vehicle.** When it works!

(A iQ 1.0 3 cylinder Multidrive requires 5W/30 part synthetic,

i do not know what a 1.3 4 cylinder gets)

Possibly 5W/30 Full synthetic !!!

Look at your Invoice and see what Oil they charged you for,

then ask them if this is the correct grade for your vehicle.

(i would not be going by the colour of the oil)

I would ask them to come and collect your vehicle to 'Repair or correct the faults' that they have caused or ignored.

If they want you to spend your time taking it back, then i would expect some 'recompense' from them in the form of a gesture.

Discount off the next service or such type of monetary benefit for their poor customer service.,

and taking your time.

(time is valuable as they should know. They charge by the hour and should do their job properly in that time, or it should cost them, not you!)

Dont just speak to the 'Service Desk', ask for the Dealership Manager or the Workshop Manager & put your concerns in writing to them & forward your letter with your Experience to Toyota UK.

(Emails and letters to the Dealership Director & copies to Toyota UK if not completley satisfied after your first enquiry to them now about how they are going to rectify the problems.)

Did you get a 'Customer Satisfaction Survey', to fill in?

Good luck.

Just had our IQ3 serviced at Toyota Coventry (Listers) oil is semi synthetic and is brown, Just checked, i see no need for the start stop to drive oil spec changes to engine . This only affects duty cycle of starter motor and does not induce any additional loads on engine

Service was superb with no issues , they conducted the full ECU reflash and have to say car feels quicker since.

I would suggest the washer top up is part of standard service, if your not happy ask for it to be taken off (it was £1.09 on mine)

by the way oil specs are on page 431 of handbook

semi syntheticmore than adequate for this design of engine, full synthetic helps of you want to extend oil change interval. ( i dont think good idea and change at 12 months regardless on all my cars)

Halfords did not do and appear not to yet, Fully Synthetic 0W 20.

I think you can Order Mobile 1 tho.

I get my 5W 30 Castrol Edge Cheapest in Asda's

Or 'Tescos own brand 5W 30 Full Synthetic' when i am being less fussy.
