Sat Navs

Being a bit slow on the uptake { I 'm a geriatric) i just wondered if anyone would be good enough to advise if my sat nav has a radar warning device on it. Only had the car for a short time and

the trouble is that we dont really use the saa nav that often, in fact hardly at all 'cos in this country we know where we are going. Hence I am unfamiliar with the thing !

and to me the instruction handbook looks extremely complicatred.

The snag is we hope to drive in France this year and I have just seen that the new French Road Driving Laws include big fines if your have a Radar Warning device in your car.

I need to know if my Sat Nav has one. The car is I.8 Avensis 09 plate

Yes that picture you put up is 99% same as mine Sat Nav . The only differences is on the right side under FM I have CD-AUX not Disc. Other than than it looks the same.

The only indentifying thing I can see on mine , after a 2nd look, is that right down the bottom on the right hand side is a number B9013. But as I say it looks the same but where you got your Identitiy of it from I don't know. Assuming then it is the same, it is a relief to know that it does not have Radar Detecting gizmo's on it.

The only trouble is , again after a 2nd look it don't appear that I've got France on the maps !!!!!

Its got Vatican City and Ireland plus other countries but NOT France .

Do you know how I can get France for it please?

It is the standard fitting for Avensis of that age. You can buy the discs from the same site as before but you have to buy all of Europe. Be warned they are not cheap!

Sorry MW I should have also said " as my particular Sat Nav isnt on the site you gave for the other types , how am I going to ask for details of the upgrade ?

Try the root of the site http://www.toyota-mapupdates.eu/ and select TNS 700 - pretty sure that is the right one for you. You will also need your current disc for the part number of the existing one.

I hope Uk does not adopt Frances speed cam laws.

best to stick to speed limits anyway.
