Additional 12V Power Outlets

Hoovie Look away Now . . . Do not continue reading :D

I am looking to install another Aux Power socket to supply power to the two teenagers in the back seat of the Rav . . . They just can't be without their DVD's, portable game thingies and music players. . . .

Ideally the one I would like to put in (at the back of the 'arm rest' so I can take power from the one inside) is one like the Prius console one which has a couple of USB ports (possibly only one) as well as the 'cigar' lighter.. . . Yet I cannot find one as an after market option . . .plenty with just the 12V Cigar Lighter . . . Anyone any ideas or can point me in the right direction.

Cheers All

Hi Tony,

I have an adaptor that fits into the "cigarette" lighter socket that has two USB charging sockets in the end of it. It is very small with only a thin flange sticking out of the socket. Might be just what you need if you combined it with a new socket installation. These sockets are readily obtainable from the likes of Maplin. if you are interested in the adaptor I'll post a picture and the details tomorrow sometime.

I would concur with three5 except ..... I was reading some reviews of those quite recently (on ones sold on Amazon) and some are limited to how much current they will supply, so may need to check specs of them:)

Looks ideal though with a bit of fettling . . . Unfortunately what I need is a socket with both the 12V AND USB options (preferably with 2 USB sockets) I know I've seen these fitted to cars . . . Just can't remember which models

This:

has what you need Tony but it depends on how much fettling you would need to do....................

Here's another:

And one more:

I've got one of those, but Ideally want to do away with it . . . I may see If I can dismantle it to make it fit the rear of the Centre Armrest, but I would prefer a 'proper' socket.

Nice little project for the weekend Tony. All the parts you need are there - just a case of dismantling and rebuilding to make it look 'stock'............

Hi Tony,

Try this. You can install as many as you need, alongside a standard cigarette socket.
