Avensis D4D T3 S, Sluggish

Hi guys

what can I say about this pile of crap avensis nothing but problems, its had a new clutch, master cylinder, clutch pedal, egr value and after all this it's still a annoying pile of crap, excuse my language but these aren't real toyotas, i cannot beleive i traded my old 1991 corolla for this, that old beast was the best never let me down and would have out lasted this avensis any day

back to this car now, had a new clutch fitted as had trouble with clutch being heavy and not coming all the way up, previous so called mechanic said it was the clutch pedal and then master cylinder after replacing both these parts it was still the same, so next mechanic checked and said pressure plate was knackered hence new clutch, fly wheel was fine they told me, easier to change gears and no nose from fly wheel, but the clutch pedal is still the same, doesn't come all the way up,

after the clutch was done the car became very sluggish EGR was faulty according to the chaps computer which i was knew beforehand as it has cut out a good few times on me once on a motorway and went into limp mode, so i replaced that and a good recon, sluggush problem is now abit better, but i am now finding it;'s still sluggish like there is no boast./ turbo, i have to rev high to get the car to shift,

bascially two annoying problems, clutch not coming up fully and the sluggish performance, if its going to cost a fair few quid to put right i reckon im gonna just sell it

many thanks for reading and i do hope i can get these two problems sorted, because apart from these faults it is really a decent car, alot better than most out there,

The turbo on mine never really comes in with a bang you just get a constant shove & only from about 1800rpm.

I assume that you've checked it for any split hoses etc.

You might want to try a can of BG244 & see if that helps to clean it up at all.

Spray that where mate? on the turbo?

Any of you fellas find the clutch alittle hard on these cars? mines has a problem where it doesn't come up fully even after a new pedal and M'cylinder fitted

you pour it into a full fuel tank ...

It's a system cleaner which does actually seem to have an effect.

I agree with the turbo not 'kicking in' albeit smoothly at around those revs.

Regards to the sluggishness, I don't mean to scare you, but (anyone else to clarify this as well) it might be related to the injectors (?)

Or assuming you drive in town a lot, maybe just a good'ol trashing.

Sorry couldn't be of more help

Hi,

In response to your topic, my 06 d4d avensis is also very sluggish and hesitant at slow speed along with poor fuel economy. I've tried bg244 in the fuel tank which made no difference and also removed and cleaned the egr valve which definitely helped the performance a bit but the fuel economy remained low and now all the old problems have returned. I really hope someone can help with this really frustrating problem. Thanks
