Leather Seat Covers Coming To An Iq Near You Soon...pecca Leather

Pecca Leather used my iQ for two weeks to do R&D on the pattern for seat covers for the iQ. Because of the strange seat shape they had to do quite a bit of testing and fitting to get it just right. The final touches are being put on the pattern and the covers will be available for your Scion iQ soon. Pecca Leather has been supplying Toyota iQ's in Japan for a few years now. Here are some pictures...

Very nice - so where did you get them done as can't see a UK supplier and how much were they/are they going to be?

I had them done at the headquarters for Pecca Leather in Downey California. They used mine to make the pattern so they gave me the prototype. The covers should be available soon and a price has not been set yet.

Just when I think I like the interior of my car these come along!

Looking great Taz and if the price for covers is right, I'd really like a set. :)

Cool looking Pecca leather seats from the pics. I am sold, LOL. However, I just drove my brand new IQ off the dealership lot earlier tonight and after 30 minutes of driving without lumbar support or ergonomic adjustable headrest, my back and neck are begging for a massage therapist to work out the kinks. What can you recommend to boost support for the IQ driver seat? What options are there for aftermarket driver seats that would fit the IQ?

I have to tell you guys that when i fitted the plum toyota kit.it isnt just a case of pulling them on and tying them up. It generally has to be done with upholstery tools for stretching the ends where they join underneath the back of the seat and are clipped togethet. You just cant do it by hand because you cant hold the ends under that much tension by hand. Even the rear head rests are clipped the same way. Also the shoulder / top of your back of the front sesrs has to be glued to the original fabric to stop it having the "drum " effect and sagging and the holes for the rear head rests has to be made very carefully be cause as you stretch the leather to pull it tight the hole stretches in size and can leave a gaping hole around the cover. Not an easy job

They do look great and not a bad price either. Will they be offering different colours as I'm not sure the black and white would suit my car, maybe black and grey?

Not that I can afford them anyway! :)

I have read the fitting instructions for the Toyota supplied plum kit David and simple it ain't! :D

Yes i had to borrow various tools from a mate in the trade. If people are serious about buying a kit it would be a good idea to have a car upholsterers contact details and get a fitting quote

They are offered in many different color choices.

I believe David has a great idea about having the covers installed by an upholstery shop.

Whilst fitting mine i soon discovered i needed another 6 hands minimum. Got there in the end
