Just trading in my 3 year old Toyota IQ for a new one and I need to buy new mats, can anyone recommend any or shall I just go for the toyota branded mats.

Does anyone with a newer IQ know if you still get the rubbish plastic cars clips to attach the mats?

Don't go for the branded Toyota ones they're rubbish !!

Mine started wearing heavily after just a couple of months and I've now wedged a piece of 3mm plastic under the drivers mat to prevent wear on the carpet underneath !

Plenty of heavy duty mats out there incl loads in the bay of flea lol

Well this is good to know - might have to look at investing in some decent ones then before the dealer fit ones start to wear

Plastic clips, yes. They do break from time to time but only costs £2.25 for a set of four from Toyota. So not. Toyota mats, which I have, do fit properly of course and include three shaped for the rear - behing each seat and the central bit where we all stuff a storage bag of some kind.

Hey Lynsey. I just bought these mats from E-Bay. Cost me £10.99 + £6.99 shipping. Far cheaper than those supplied by Mr. T.

It's a shame a lot of their stuff is so expensive. Don't they realise if they dropped the prices a little, they may actually sell stuff?

And, here are said mats installed. I was quite surprised, as they're off E-bay, to find them delivered yesterday. I was told 24th April, so nice result there. They look, to me, as good as Mr. T's.

I have the Toyota branded rubber mats. They are very hard wearing and fit the iQ perfectly. There are 5 in the set. 2 front, 2 rear and 1 centre rear. They Velcro in place, so don't move.

Sounds good Marc. Those I got have a pimpled rough surface on the back to grip, as well as the two eyelets for those oh so fragile retaining clips. I have to admit here, it was a bit late getting these as there is now a rather worn area in the driver's footwell. Those carpets are as thin as the seat coverings and will soon wear out if you're not careful, like ours has. The other two from the set are on the backs of the lowered seats to protect against the smooth plastic bins in the boot. But, as you can expect, other stuff is placed in there and sometimes it aint so smooth. I know, it needs one of those proper covers for the back seat area.

I still think the rubber mats from Toyota are very good. The clips that hold them at the front have not broken, as they do not move or slip around. I would go for these again.

Every Little Helps

I would give a word of caution with mats like these. I had a set with holes in them to fit the clips, to stop the mats sliding forward under the pedals. They were good, until the part where the holes were split and the driver's mat slipped forward. Most annoying however, you do need to have mats in there. I removed the driver's mat because of its movement, and the damn carpet, being so thin, wore through pretty quick, but then, I do wear boots.
