Picking up a auris SR180 at the weekend with the Toyota Motorsport body kit fitted. As this is a Toyota option part , should it be classed as a ' modification ' by insurance companies ? I thought if it is a factory fit or dealer option it would not be classed as a mod.

Anyone know of any insurance companies that accept it as not being modified.

The kit comes standard on a sr 180 from the factory so it's not a modification they all have them

The body kit in question has side skirts added , a front spoiler and a rear bumper skirt with twin exhaust.

This is not on a standard sr180 when it left the factory.

if in doubt, declare. declared mine, no extra cost as far as I'm aware.

Many things are conidered mods even mods to the dashboard like gauges.or even bodywork stickers. if in doubt discuss it with the insurence co.

Not declaring a mod could effect a claim or nullify the insurence.

Some charge extra for mods others dont. its not worth the risk not to declaire any changes to the car.

And fitting alloy wheels needs to be declared.

Whenever i change vehicle with my insurance company they always ask about any 'manufacturer optional extras'

I guess this would count as one?
