Hi

I currently own a Auris 180 and we have ou grown the car now due to expanding family. Ive had toyotas since 2004 and have aways been happy. I am going to look at a Avensis tourer tomorrow. Its a 09 plate T4 2.2 150bhp manual with sat nav, done 34k. Can anybody give me some advice on what to look out for? Its a shame I've outgrown the auris as i love the car :-(

Thanks

Carl

Hi Carl, as you already own a car with the 180 engine you should already be aware of the problems with the 2.2 ad engine.

In saying that if you are looking at a 2009 car then it should be fine. You may find that the 150 bhp you are buying will be better on fuel than your Auris T180, I'm averaging 48 mpg overall with mine (town & country) so I think that's great considering it's a big car. Just make sure that you get 2 sets of keys, the service record (FSH is important for warranty) and handbook, not sure whether that model has a DVD disc type satnav but if it does make sure the DVD is with it. If it's from a dealer push for a good waranty deal as 2009 it may be out of Toyota 3yr warranty now. The Avensis on the whole is a very reliable car and nice to drive so I'm sure you will love it as I do, just wish I had got the tourer.

Good luck tomorrow ...... regards Pete.

Don't know of many problems with the 2.2 150 - no dpf to worry about and better fuel economy than the T180 as pete mentioned - the 2 main reasons why I bought the 150 - although I was very tempted with the T180. Bloke in my work bought a T180 tourer and is selling it after 6 months due to poor fuel economy. Wish I had bought the tourer aswell but apart from that I'm loving mine. Trip computer says 42 mpg average but I calculate 45-48mpg. Performance wise it's plenty fast enough for me and I find it very relaxing to drive on the motorway. Mine's done 92K miles and feels solid.

Hi.

Please see my post on handbrake control system. If the actuator needs replacing, the cost is £1200.

Other than that, the 09 tourer has been great; I've done 70,000 miles with no problems till now.

Cheers.
