Coolant Expulsion Sorted..

After the visit to the local garage the other day and with a few ideas in mind the coolant spattering over the header tank is now detected and sorted..

It seemed that the coolant was coming was coming from the pipe at the front of the header tank.. This pipe is held on by one of those tuppeny spring clips... It was decided to wipe the tank really clean and see what happened .. After a long run today I had a look and sure enough its coming from that pipe as the hose is not seated properly.. So spring clip now in the bin and a stainless jubilee clip in its place all should now hopefully be well...

Barbarian!!! Those clips are specially tensioned to apply equal pressure all the way around but I suspect a luddite mechanic at your dealer got it wrong. It has to go exactly where it came from to work properly.

Dunno Don.... I should have looked with My eyes open in the first place.. The coolant was all over the header tank and not just behind the overflow outlet.....

I should have twigged that with the car moving forward the coolant would not have gone forwards... Ere any chance of Me becoming Your apprentice ?? Thought not.......

Pipe is now secure and will hopefully hold the water.. I would imagine its fairly low pressure ??

Whats luddite ?????????

i ve sourced a rubber hose (oil + temp resist) and put it on the tube piece just to pass coolant under the engine bay and not on the engine parts. it takes even 50 cm.
