Dear All

Just had my toyota avensis cambelt change in 3 weeks ago in authorised service (60000 miles).

Today computer display showed 153km distance to go when I started engine, then immediately dropped to 150 when strarted drive.

It was 111km when I stopped after 1 km drive to shop and back (2km in total).

Can you tell me whats is wrong because I got 1 years guarantee for therir job and I want to call them tomorrow.

Adam

My 06 2.2 D4D did this once after a quick £5 fill up. After going to a surprisingly high range reading for a quick splash of fuel the range reading just plumetted initially then settled down. Very wierd. Hasn't done it since. Maybe keep an eye on it and see how it goes for a while.

Have u reset your mpg trip since your belt change. Usually when mechanics do such jobs they let the cars run a while after doing the job and the mpg trip keeps dropping even thou the car isn't driving which mucks up your miles left in your tank

Use the range as a guide and dont assume it to be really accurate. Like someone mentioned before, I have found it to happen to me when I have only partially filled the car with fuel. I wouldn't worry too much about it
