Hi Guys, first post for me here as I have been offered this vehicle to buy

http://www.autovit.r...-C23678520.html

but after reading all the info regarding the engines and c.h.g. I'm a little bit put off. Also the km's are not warranted as the guy only had the 20k and 40k km services done at Toyota. I have done a test drive and checked various things such as the heating which was fine. There's no smoke from the exhaust and everything except a front side light and the left rear brake light (seems to work intermittently) seems to be ok.

My other main concern is that the 120k km are not real, although for a 5 year old vehicle with 120k km it looks and drives ok (must admit I wasn't that impressed though, felt like quite a lot of turbo lag and the steering felt heavy at low speed with the 17" alloys and winter tyres.

the price is 6850 Euro which is about 6000GBP

Any comments, is it worth taking the risk?

Anything else I should look for eg identifying which engine series it has?

Not sure of the exact manufacturing date but it's deffo the facelifted model.

Many thanks for any help/advice

Putting aside the potential for chg issues you mentioned that you weren't that impressed with it. If that is the case are you sure you want to buy it? If it isn't impressing you now, will it likely to impress you once you have bought it?

Hi DB, it's about the best motor I can find for the price and it's not necessarily a 'keeper' more a short term solution to a problem of having lost my job and hence company car (was a 2005 Rav 4 2.0 D4D with150k km and all seemed to be ok) and therefore don't want to splash too much cash but equally want something cheap and relaible without going down the skoda octavia route...actually they're more expensive here than the Avensis. Nearest Avensis on a similar year is c. 9000 Euro. We've also got a Polo but need a 2nd car but not absolutely desperate so I'm taking my time.
