Avensis Poor Straight Line Steering

Recently bought 09 model Avensis Tourer (the one with electric power asist steering). Terrible to drive on motorway. No solid 'dead ahead' position and needs constant steering corrections just to keep straight. Is this a known design problem with this model or is it more likely to be a fault? The steering alarm does not come on. The tyres are Dunlop 55/R16 at 35psi. Is there any adjustment on the steering that might improve things?

Appreciate your responses as very disappointed with what I thought would be a great motorway cruiser.

Hi .this is defo not a known issue .the avensis is a cracker on the motorway .how often do you check your tyre pressures? Any uneven tyre wear? As suggested above have your four wheel alignment checked and adjusted.previous owner may have been hard on car

OK thanks guys. That's what Honest John (Daily Telegraph) recommended too, so I'll give that a go. Appreciate your responses.

Cheers
