Engine Occasionally Cutting Out When Stopped.

Hi there all members.

I am new to these forums and was wandering if anyone could give me any help to this problem. My vehicle has just completed over 100,000 miles and is a a TOYOTA AVENSIS D4D T2 on a 58 plate.

Symptoms:

1. The rev counter needle can be erratic when I pull up and stop the vehicle - fluctuating between 1000rpm and 800 rpm.

2. The engine has never cut out when the vehicle is in motion.

3. The car will always restart.

Actions already taken:

1. Air filter changed.

2. Fuel filter changed.

3. Egr Valve cleaned.

4. I have put REDEX in the tank.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Many Thanks.
