Hi,

I have just been and picked up a SR180 from a private seller and the Toyota warranty expired in December last year. Did a few searches online and came across Go Car Warranty and there quote was miles cheaper than anybody else ( around £280 for 3 years ) for there Ultimate package. Has anybody else used this company or heard anything about them ?

All I would say is that you get what you pay for. Things to watch out for

Insurance based, a part has to fail (break, fall apart, suddenly stop working) for instance a worn wheel bearing would not be covered unless it collapsed

Cannot make a claim within first 30 days (so only 11 months cover in effect)

Low claim limit (say £500 per claim)

Limited to the number of claims you can make

No consequential loss cover

No breakdown or recovery cover

Prior approval needed to start repairs, if your garage does not deal directly with the company, you might have to pay for repairs and claim back the money

IMHO, off the peg warranties are not worth the paper they are written on, unless they are top of the range. They WILL be insurance based thats why a part has to fail (not just be worn) in order for it to be covered

The other choice is an extended Toyota warranty, an extension of the original manufacturers warranty, NOT insurance based, payments made direct to your dealer, other benefits such as car hire, AA cover, MOT cover included. More expensive, PM me if you want a quote. Would need to know what miles you have done, reg date, 12 or 24 month cover

Kingo

EDIT

Just looked for a "whats covered" on Go Car Warranty, saw this bit

What is covered?

This will depend on the level of cover you choose. Our Complete option covers most major mechanical and electrical parts and some labour costs. Our Ultimate option extends the amount of parts covered and the cost of labour even further. Our UltimatePlus warranty included all of the above and also provides wear and tear cover, providing a comprehensive level of cover.

So unless you buy the ultimate plus I wouldnt bother, doesnt even cover ALL labour costs, very handy NOT!
