Engine Mounts?

I wondered if anyone else experiences what feels to me like lots of engine movement during hard acceleration on their iQ?

I've owned my (surprisingly brilliant) iQ for a good few months and it's rare that I ever give it full beans. However, I've noticed when I go right through the gears, at each change (5 speed manual 1.0L), it does seem to sort of kick back? I wouldn't have thought the engine weighs a huge amount but I suppose in proportion to the low body weight, it may be a large percentage.

It's as if the engine is moving quite a bit during the gear change at full revs. I wondered if this may something to do with the engine mounts (if so, can anything be done?) or if it's just me being used to much weightier cars?

One of my friends is a bit on the heavy side! If he moves enough in the car to get comfy etc on the motorway, it does actually move the car whilst in motion! It's kind of the same feeling when I experience the movement during the gear change if that makes sense?! :D

Sounds like you need to get the vehicle checked by a qualified mechanic.

Safety would be my main concern, if it was an engine mount, it could be gubbed or looose or anything.

(You need to get the engine stay, mounts, exhaust etc etc all checked to see that nothing is just loose.)

Is this one of the first iQ2's in the UK?

What age?

What Mileage etc?

When was it last serviced/checked over?

If it is one of the early cars, you will only ever know how they have worn or worn parts by the time they get to being 4 - 5 year old.

Well thats coming up.

So please keep everyone informed.

It is going to be a learning experience for Toyota as well as owners of the early iQ's as to what needs replacing as they come up for 1st then 2nd MOT's.

How they are by the time they are 6 years old & how much they cost to maintain or buy major parts for, will be important to their price as second hand vehicles.

That again will be something Toyota do not yet know.
