54 Plate Avensis D4D Oil Leak - Oil Pump?

Hi , I'm new to the forum & I was hoping for some advice.

Last two weeks I've had a slow oil leak from around the drivers side engine bay - took it to my local garage - fairly competent but not a specialist - initially identified as cam shaft seal so that was replaced along with the crankshaft seal - now when they tested it after doing the work the leak had stopped - however i took it home and started to leak again once I had stopped - took it straight back the garage they got it up on the ramp with the engine running - no leak - turn it off and the leak starts again - they suggested it may be a split/score on crankshaft which is why the seal is not sitting properly - anyway they stripped it down again and phoned me up to tell me I need a new oil pump - they could,nt get their hands on one as it's the weekend but said they would get it monday am - not sure how much the pump would be as they say no copy part availlable & will have to go to Mr. T - should I stump up for the oil pump ( no idea yet how much) in the hope that will stop the leak or just live with it and keep topping up with oil and leaving little puddles wherever i park or the last thing I want do do is call it a day and get rid of a car that has served me well - any ideas would be apreciated

Hi

does anyone know if it is possible to get an oil pump from an independant manufacturer for this model ( 2004 D4D 2.0l) or do I have to buy from main dealers? & what sort of price ?

Hi

Just an update - managed to get an oil pump from Mr.T for £180 - fitted it and soon as engine started red oil light on - garage checked oil pressure and are saying it's a faulty pump ( brand new from dealer) - had to stump up another £180 for another pump as dealers said they could'nt refund untill first pump had been checked over by Mr.T's factory - fingers crossed second pump does the job
