Clunky Rattle When Under Load?

Hi All,

My Avensis has what can only be decribed at a 'clunky rattle' when moving from stationary in first and if the revs aren't high in other gears also!

I've had a look under and checked the exhaust and heatshields and all seems to be ok!

It's hard to pinpoint but I am guessing it is more to the N/S/F (pax side).

The car is lovely to drive and extremely quiet and 'tight' otherwise it only seems to clunk and rattle when the revs are not high enough etc. causing the car to judder a bit.

(I think?)

I can't even have a guess what may be causing it as I've only had the car a month and am not to familar with the Avensis.

Is there anything I can do to try and sort this before I have to book it into my local spanner?

Anyone have any similar probs?

Was thinking maybe steering/driveshaft/bushes?

Cheers!

Gary

The car also occassionally emits a brake like squeak/screech when I press the clutch in, connected?

It's deffo seems to be coming from front the passenger side, sounds like a 'shafty' type clunky rattle and is more pronounced when turning right from a junction!

Anyone any ideas what I should be checking?

Cheers!

Hello mate, it does sound like a drive shaft CV joint problem, that's the part of the drive shaft that goes though the front hub and brake disc.

Regards Pete.

it could be your stabilizer links. usually the passenger side goes first. have your mechanic take your wheel off and check your suspension stabilizer links.

i was hearing the same sound, and i bought new links.

i suggest you buy a pair and just replace both.

you might also want to check the back links, while you're at it.

hope this helps.
