Cruise Control Retrofit On A 2007 Avensis D-4D T3-S?

Hi,

I've done some searching on the forums and there are a lot of posts regarding the retrofitting of cruise control to the Avensis. However, from these posts I get the impression that this isn't possible on models made after 2006. Can someone tell me if this is the case.

Also, I know nothing about performing upgrades to cars, are there any instructions out there (with pictures) that a dummie like myself could follow? Otherwise am I better taking the car to a specialist to have this done?

I hope to be corrected if I'm wrong and don't mean to build up false hope

BUT, I would have thought the wiring would have been in place, just a case of getting a cruise control kit off a scraped Avensis, taking off the airbag, plugging in the connector for the cruise control and thats it

I find it hard to comprehend that Mr T would have two different types of wiring for the Avensis

Thats roughly how I believe it would work, but like I said before, not 100% confident of this

Sorry couldnt be of more help

Edit: If you are confident working on your car, I would say you could do this on your own, haven't done myself one I wouldn't know the details or time it would take. Main thing to be careful of is the airbag. Hopefully someone else can provide more details

That's what I thought, but just saw several posts that mentioned a timeline of cars being made that had this ability, all seemed to indicate that this ended in 2006. On searching in the forums on people who have done the retrofit, they all seemed to be cars that are "younger" than 2007.

Providing I could get detailed enough instructions, I'd possibly be confident enough to give it a go, but the only instructions I've seen so far have either been in Spanish...or was a detailed circuit diagram which may have well been in Greek to me!

I've found this, but not too sure how closely it relates to the Avensis, one way to be sure is to take off the airbag first before buying anything and see if the connections look similar. One reason I guess they would be as the cruise control stalk used is the same as used in newer toyota versions, and as said before, to save costs, the wiring might be similar in certain aspects

oh and I havent gone through all the posts in the thread, I'll leave that for you to have a look and hopfully something more positive will come out of it
