Alloy Wheels

I have spotted a set of yaris verso alloy wheels tyre size 175/65R14 82T and alloy wheel size 5.5J. At my local breakers yard.

My yaris has a set of steel wheels 175/65R14 82T wheel size 5.5Jx.

I know all about the tyre and what it means and the 5.5J as in the diameter of the fitting on the hub, but what does the 'x' mean? Would the verso alloy wheels fit?

Cheers

Sean

I think your knowledge is somewhat amiss - 5.5 is the width of the rim and J is the rim contour.

Suggest you have a read at:

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

and:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_sizing

The Wikipedia page mentions the x (to do with caliper clearance) but isn't very specific - it seems to me there should be a number or code involved.

Hi

I'm a newbie to this, but i have a question.

I have purchased a Yaris 1.3SR 99reg, and it has 2 buckled alloys- my friend has a set of 15" alloys and wheels which he said i can have- will these be okay to replace the current 14" ones on my Yaris?

=P
