Help! I Changed Buttons In Key Fob & Car Won't Start!

Hi All,

I changed the buttons in my car key as they were missing, for buttons I got from another new key and although it locks/unlocks perfectly the damn thing won't start the car!

I know there is something wrong with the immobiliser part of it but can't work out what happened?

All I done was take the key apart and put new buttons in!

Is there a way of resetting the key?

I had a trawl through the forum but I'm confused by all the differing methods and don't want to mess it up as I have only one master key!

It's a 2001/11 Avensis 1.8VVTi Vermont

Please help!

Gary

Inside the fob you took apart there is a tiny rectangular piece of plastic .this is the actual imob chip you must have reassembled it minus this part .easily done

Just checked, it's all there!

It seems I wiped the immobiliser setting!

I have tried every way I have found on the forum to reset and it doesn't seem to work!

Confused!

Wot model and year is your car. in order to register a key in the immob system you must have an already registerd master key to open the system so if you dont have a spare master key your in trouble .with the exception of the 98 99 avensis .

Hi!

November 2001 Avensis Vermont 1.8 VVTi

I have a spare master key that unlocks and starts the car.

I just can't seem to get the key that I changed the buttons on to start the car.

So I've got 1 tatty old master key with no buttons that starts the engine and a new master key that unlocks the car but won't start the damn engine.

I don't want to be reliant on only 1 master key that is nearly knackered!

Can anyone explain the sequence to register the other master key with the immobiliser?

I've tried every sequence I've found here but it still won't start the engine?

Thanks!

Gary
