Avensis D4D 2.0 Loses Power Once Engine Has Warmed Up- Embarrasing And

After a little while of driving when putting the accelerator down it loses power drasticly. Had it serviced and problem seemed to not appear until a couple of months later and same problem. Am aware that the clutch may need doing soon. Is this linked or is it EGR? Nothing from the Toyota-diagnostics either.

It will barely get above 20mph and after a few seconds you have to put it into 1st and wait for the burst of power before it does it again. Very dangerous (especially at junctions), embarrasing and frustrating!

If it's the clutch the revs will go up, but no power will go to the weels. So it's something else. Something blocked, like a fuel pipe, EGR, maybe exhaust pipe, air filter or something is loosing pressure - turbo, scv... Black smoke is essential here, but if it's not comming out, then it could be electronic.
