Intermittant Start Issue

Evening All,

The other day I'd driven my girlfriends Aygo for approx 10 minutes, left it stood outside our house for another 10 minutes and when I went to restart it, it wouldnt catch properly.

Each time I turned the key, the engine would catch & fire, then cut out immiediatly, 4 occasions this hapened in the single episode. On one attempt I gave the engine a little rev, to which it revved then promptly cut out once near idle speed.

This has happened once in the last 4 months or so that I can remember, but never quite so bad, maybe restarting at the second time not the 5th.

Does any one have any information that can help identify a possible cause, I myself was thinking possibly an Idle Speed Control Valve, of course if it has one ftted.

I do have mechanical experience and I am trained, though i have no experience with Toyota's and all my training is Vauxhall based

One tip which may work. Turn the key until the dashboard lights are on - wait a few seconds - then turn to start engine. If ever mine fails to start this always works
