Shudder On Idle

Hi Chaps,

I've got a 2007 2.0 D4D, the engine is running fine but i get quite a bit of shudder on idle when the engine is hot or cold makes no difference, also i think the waterpump needs replacing as the coolant level slowly goes down and there's pink residue around ac pump ps pump. I also get a belt screeching sound when accelerating hard in 4/5th gear.

I've changed the fuel filter, cleaned the egr and run some bg244 through it, none of which made much difference to the shudder. I live by a large river ford and when the river is high and i go through and pull up my drive the car idles perfectly with no vibration, this only happens after crossing the ford at high river level.

All this makes me think it could be the drive belt causing the shudder or bad engine mounts??

What do you guys think?

Cheers

Peter

You might need to clean the engine's air intake manifold. This gathers a shed load of greasy, dirty deposits that often affect the idle.

You'll have to use brake cleaning spray and a good baby bottle cleaning brush (not kidding) to loosen and clean it out.

Be warned though - after you've cleaned it the ECU needs time to make the necessary adjustments to your idler. You might find the car revs at about 1500-2000 rpm for a while. You just need to leave it. It'll settle down.

hi Peter

shuddering reasons:

- air in both filter and injection system;

- MAF sensor is dirty;

- SCV - -plays due to solenoid coil is about to die;

- party lack of 12V signal to injector control solenoid;

- bad quality of injection.

Check and revert

regards / Igor
